The windy season will arrive in December and last through March. We can turn off the motor and do some great sailing.  This will bring winds up to 20 knots coming from the north (Popagayo Winds).  Shannon has 7 different sized sails which allow us to choose the appropriate sail for the wind condition.

 With these winds Shannon responds and will safely heel at 15 to 18 degrees and do 8 to 9 knots boat speed. This allows us to head out towards the Catalina Islands where we commonly see Dolphin as well as the Frigate and Bubbie birds.  The Spotted Dolphin we find are just as excited as we to have the wind and Shannon’s boat speed.  They love to play with Shannon due to the speed that comes from its high performance hull. The other benefit from the speed, heel angle and weight (36,000 pounds with 12,000 of this in the keel) is that the boat cuts through the waves, creating a smooth ride (no seasickness)! 

 WHALES AND GIANT MANTAS –   Along with the wind, comes a drop in the water temperature, plankton, which brings the whales and Mantas.  This normally occurs in December and January so we look forward to this event. 

We have moved our office and changed the name, but the people, experience and boat is the same!  Our office is now located in Hidden Valley.   From there we do sailing charters, fishing charters and have a Marine Store.  We operate under the name of Oso Viejo S.A. (Old Bear) and are fully licensed and insured.
